Fetal Well Being Scan

Trans-abdominal ultrasound scan, done in between growth scans to assess baby's well-being.

Why they are done
This scan may be required in between growth scans to assess baby’s well-being. The scan consists of fluid assessment and, if necessary, Doppler studies of the blood flow.

When they are done
These scans can be ordered by your midwife at any stage from late second trimester and are performed in between growth scans.

How long it takes
15-20 min

How to prepare
No preparation is required. You must bring your referral with you. We cannot scan you without the referral from you doctor or midwife.

What to expect
The sonographer will discuss the results with you. These results will be with your referrer in 1 day.
If there are any concerns with your pregnancy the sonographer will phone your referrer and organise the report to be faxed urgently.
